Image
Having been part of the Sanrio Family since April this year, A Bathing Ape‘s Baby Milo now invites the ever-popular Hello Kitty over to his side of the fashion world for this 2014 capsule collection. The vast range of both male and female pieces for all ages includes Camo Shark Hoodies, Crewnecks, several T-Shirt styles, Jersey Dress hoodies, baby Coveralls and baby Capes, as well as a cushion, Baby Milo plush toy, Tote bags, iPhone 6 cases and even a mug. How to Do Action Comedy featuring Jackie Chan

Image
Jackie Chan‘s comedic style needs no introduction, seamlessly blending action and comedy in his light-hearted kung fu films that have time and again enraptured audiences over the course of his decades-long career. However, as shown by Tony Zhou of YouTube channel Every Frame A Painting, that seamlessness is the result of no small amount of blood, sweat and an obsessive pursuit of perfection by Jackie Chan himself. In this in-depth analysis of everything from the plot, framing, musicality and unadulterated ingenuity of his fight scenes, you will leave with a newfound appreciation of Jackie Chan’s mastery of his craft, as well as the areas in which American action films and editing techniques are still sorely lacking.

Bottega Veneta's Tomas Maier Campaigns to Preserve Japanese Modernist Landmarks

Image
For all of its progression, Japanese culture can also be said to be fairly sentimental with respect to its native heritage. This culture of preservation might take a blow in light of the impending 2020 Olympics, but an unlikely candidate has stepped up to champion modernist Japanese structures – specifically Tokyo’s famed Hotel Okura. We’ve previously explored the importance of the hotel with Monocle, and now Bottega Venneta‘s creative director Tomas Maier has intervened with a new campaign to save the Yoshiro Taniguchi-designed landmark. Watch the video above to explore Maier’s vision and learn how you can help preserve this special piece of history.

Skrillex featuring Diplo, G-Dragon & CL "Dirty Vibe" Music Video

Image
Following the hellride visuals provided courtesy of Nabil Elderkin for his “Fuck That” single, Skrillex returns with another music video. The video for “Dirty Vibe” – the eponymous single from the artist’s recent Dirty Vibe Remixes EP – is as high-octane and polar as they come, at some points featuring Tron-esque neon lights and elsewhere making use of primitivist Basquiat-style animations. Recruiting friends Diplo, G-Dragon and CL for the track, the video is a heart-pulsing affair worth its weight in star power. Enjoy it above, and stay tuned to HYPETRAK for the latest from your favorite artists.

Yayoi Kusama : Self Obliteration Short Film by Martín Rietti

Image
With a career defined by exhibitions in the world’s most prestigious institutions, it’s no surprise that Yayoi Kusama‘s work might take a toll on her personal psyche. We know Kusama as the master of polka dot immersion – or ‘infinity nets’ as she calls them – but we rarely look to her struggles with depression or perceptions of ‘reality’. These aspects of the artist’s life have thus far been masked within her work, expressed through use of clashing colors and hypnotizing primitivist patterning – all of which harken to Kusama’s childhood struggles with self-obliteration. Filmmaker and director Martín Rietti sat down with the 84 year-old visionary ahead of her new exhibition in Buenos Aires, hoping to explore Kusama’s mind and thought process while continuing to produce some of the most innovative work today. Enjoy the video above.
