Yohji Yamamoto Talks About His Early Muse

In A Kind of Woman by filmmaker Matthew Donaldson, Yohji Yamamoto talks briefly about his introduction to fashion as well as his early muse. Having fell into his iconic designation by chance, the Japanese designer recalls his original intent was to simply help his mother shop. He further mentions his frustrations with “girlish” clothing and “bitches” led to his now celebrated aesthetic and never-ending search for the independent woman.
